NOTE: This is NOT Daniel P Brown, but an experimental voice rendering, summarising in 10 minutes the entire 700 page dissertation, produced by Google´s NotebookLM (2024). Obviously, such an attempt is impossible. Thus, just see this as an appetiser to the original work, linked to at the bottom. |
I initially chose this text to test how NotebookLM would handle a complex academic text on spirituality. Surprisingly, it performed well in terms of educational entertainment. After publishing the first one, I received requests for more.
I enjoyed this project because the dissertation is an impressive work. Brown had to translate key texts himself, like "Moonbeams of Mahamudra."
However, it seems that this 1981 had received practically zero attention in the academic or any other environment. ChatGPT and Perplexity could not find any other references to it other than my own blog posts.
Each podcast is based on a single dissertation chapter, processed separately by NotebookLM due to system limitations. The 700+ page dissertation is intended for advanced meditators interested in the Mahamudra tradition.
These AI podcasts offer an overview of main Mahamudra topics. They are not meditation instructions, but rather modern voice renditions of the text.
The visualizations were generated by Claude.ai as SVG animations, based on the podcast text. They are simple backgrounds designed to complement the audio.
The original dissertation can be found online for those interested in deeper study.
